Our tap classes follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus, an internationally recognised programme that builds rhythm, musicality, coordination, and confidence — all while making plenty of noise!
Tap is a high-energy, joyful style where dancers learn to use their feet like an instrument, creating clear sounds and rhythms to music. As dancers progress, they develop strong technique, timing, and performance skills through engaging exercises and lively routines. The ISTD syllabus is carefully structured so dancers can grow at their own pace, gain confidence and make music with their feet.
Grade 1 Tap
Monday 6.00 - 6.45pm
A fun class ideal for young tappers with some tap experience building tap sequences and fun routines, approx 7+ yrs. Dancers begin to develop clearer tap sounds. They learn fundamental steps such as toe and heel work, simple shuffles, and travelling movements. Musical awareness, posture, and control are introduced.

Dancers may have the opportunity to enter ISTD examinations or assessments depending on progression.

Primary Tap
Monday 5.15 - 6.00pm
A fun rhythmic class ideal for beginners teaching children 6 yrs + basic tap steps, progressing onto simple tap sequences and fun routines.
​
Tap dancers will have the opportunity to showcase skills learnt through performance opportunities such as our mid-year showcase and annual concert.​

Grade 2 Tap
Monday 4.30 - 5.15pm
Dancing in Grade 2 Tap builds on​ foundations with more detailed footwork and rhythmic patterns. Dancers develop speed, clarity, and coordination, learning more complex steps and combinations.

Tap dancers may have the opportunity to enter ISTD examinations or assessments depending on progression.

Grade 3/4 Tap
Thursday 6.00 - 6.45pm
In Grades 3/4 tap technique is refined, including articulation of the feet, balance, and accuracy. Musical interpretation becomes more important, with dancers learning to perform with style, dynamics, and confidence.

Dancers may have the opportunity to enter ISTD examinations or assessments depending on progression.

Grade 5 Tap
Monday 5.15 - 6.00pm
Grade 5 Tap focuses on advanced coordination, rhythmic precision and performance skills. Dancers learn more intricate footwork, faster rhythms, and complex sequences. There is a strong emphasis on musicality, stamina, and expressive performance, preparing dancers for higher-level tap work and examinations. Grade 5 tap is an hour long class.

Beginners Tap - Teens & Adults
Tuesday 5.30 - 6.15pm
Learn the basics and find your rhythm in this 45-minute tap class - just for beginning teens and adults. This beginner tap class focuses on teaching the essentials of this percussive dance form in a welcoming, judgement-free space. Come experience the delight of creating rhythms with your feet!
Suitable for beginners and those that need a big refresh.
Tap shoes required, and comfortable clothing for dancing recommended.
