Classes and times
Beginners / Primary Jazz
Times:
Monday 3.30pm - 4.15pm
A fun 45 minute class, once a week for kids aged 6-8 years. Children will be taught the basics of Jazz in a creative environment, including simple isolations and sequences to upbeat popular music.
Children have the opportunity to enter for NZAMD Medal Awards, BAL examinations and perform in our end of year recital.
Uniform consists of a turquoise singlet or Expressions t-shirt, jazz shorts or pants, jazz shoes are optional.

Jazz 1
Times:
Monday 4.15pm - 5.00pm
A fun 45 minute class, once a week for kids aged 9 - 11 years. Children will be taught
fun dance sequences to upbeat music, working on defining arm lines, simple isolations and developing kicks and turns.
Jazz 2 children have the opportunity to enter for NZAMD Medal Awards, BAL examinations and perform in our end of year concert.
Uniform consists of a turquoise singlet or Expressions t-shirt, Jazz shorts or pants, jazz shoes are optional.

Jazz 3
Times:
Wednesday 5.45pm - 6.30pm
An upbeat energetic 45 minute class, once a week for kids aged 10+ years. Children will be taught basic combinations to popular music, developing technique through use of floor work, isolation sequences and travelling steps. Exercises focus on developing basic technique, style and performance.
Jazz 3 children have the opportunity to enter for NZAMD Medal Awards, BAL examinations and perform in our end of year recital.
Uniform consists of turquoise singlet or Expressions t-shirt, Jazz shorts or pants, jazz shoes are optional.
Students are encouraged to also attend Limbering Junior class Wednesday 5.15pm -5.45pm to work on flexibility and strength.

Jazz 4
Times:
Thursday 5.15pm - 6.00pm
An energetic 45 minute class, once a week for kids aged 11 years upwards. Students will develop Jazz technique through a series of combinations focusing on flexibility, leaps and turns.
Jazz 4 students have the opportunity to enter for NZAMD Medal Awards, BAL examinations and perform in our end of year recital.
Uniform consists of turquoise singlet or Expressions t-shirt, Jazz shorts or pants and black Jazz shoes

Junior Limbering
Times:
Wednesday 5.15pm - 5.45pm
A structured 30 minute weekly session working to improve strength and overall flexibility. Combining strengthening and stretching helps to tone and shape muscles, as well as improving flexibility range which is necessary for today's dancer.
Dancers are shown effective and safe ways to stretch in a supportive environment, suitable for students attending Jazz 1 upwards

Jazz Elementary
Times:
Monday 5.45pm - 6.30pm
An energetic 45 minute class, once a week for kids aged 12+ years upwards. Students will develop Jazz technique through a series of combinations focusing on flexibility, leaps and turns.

Students are encouraged to also attend Limbering Senior class Monday 6.35pm -7.05pm to work on flexibility and strength.

Jazz Advanced
Times:
Monday 7.15pm - 8.15pm
A fast paced 1 hour class, once a week for students aged 13 + years.
Students develop their Jazz technique through learning a variety of Jazz styles, whilst continuing to develop leaps, turns and performance skills.
Jazz students have the opportunity to enter for NZAMD Medal Awards, BAL examinations and perform in our end of year recital.
Uniform consists of turquoise or black Expressions singlet, jazz shorts or pants and black Jazz shoes.

Senior Limbering
Times:
Monday 6.35pm - 7.05pm
A structured 30 minute weekly session working to improve strength and overall flexibility. Combining strengthening and stretching helps to tone and shape muscles, as well as improving flexibility range which is necessary for today's dancer.
